WHERE TO SWIM IN TENERIFE
Swimming in Tenerife is comfortable for several reasons. Firstly, sharks, jellyfish, and other dangerous sea creatures are rare here due to cold currents that are not conducive to their survival. Secondly, many beaches are equipped with artificial breakwaters, which provide safe and calm swimming conditions.
And thirdly, you can swim in Tenerife year-round, even in winter and early spring
All beaches in Tenerife are free. There are no separate, closed territories for hotels here, and access to the ocean is free everywhere. On the beach, you only have to pay for sun loungers and umbrellas. However, you can also buy a towel and a small umbrella in one of the many shops and sit right on the shore, which is what most people do. It may be a little less comfortable, but it is more economical, and the money saved can be spent on something else, such as enjoying a meal at a cafe on the shore.
First, a bit of general information about Tenerife's beaches. They are all free to access, with no private areas reserved for hotels. On the beach, you will only need to pay for sun loungers and umbrellas. However, you can also purchase a towel and a small umbrella from one of the many shops to sit right on the shore. Many visitors opt for this option, which is a bit less comfortable but more economical. The money saved can be used for something else, like enjoying a meal at a café on the shore.
The water on the coast of Tenerife is not particularly warm, but you can still swim, even during the winter months. On the other hand, the lower water temperature (due to cold currents) provides excellent natural protection from dangerous sea creatures. Near the island, predators such as sharks are very rare visitors, and the same goes for stinging jellyfish. In general, the water in Tenerife is safe for swimming, but it's still important to take precautions. Don't forget sunscreen even on cloudy days.
ABOUT BEACHES IN GENERAL

Puerto de la Cruz
Playa Maria Jimenez
Playa Maria Jimenez is part of the large beach of Playa Jardin, but is also considered a separate beach as its borders are separated from other beaches by a stone pass. Unfortunately, the water is almost always unsafe for swimming, as the red flag is usually raised, indicating a ban on bathing. However, visitors can still sunbathe and dip their toes in the water.

Santa Cruz
Playa de Las Teresitas
Playa de Las Teresitas is the only beach near the island's capital and is probably the most beautiful of all the beaches in Tenerife. It is wide and long, with palm trees and light sand imported from the Sahara. Thanks to a stone breakwater, there are no waves, which means you can not only swim but also snorkel. However, one issue is the cleanliness of the water itself. The proximity of the port and the city, and the barrier pier all affect the water quality. Despite this, Playa de Las Teresitas is definitely worth a visit.

Although the water entry is quite smooth, waves can still be present. Additionally, it's worth noting that the most sheltered area from the wind is often favored by nudists, so it may not be suitable for everyone.

Playa del Camison
The resorts of the "Big Three" flow into each other, and the beaches are no exception. A short walk from Playa de las Vistas will bring you to the beaches of Las Americas. Playa del Camison is a great beach with calm waters, regardless of the wind direction. The water is clear and ideal for swimming and other water activities. Palm trees lining the perimeter of the beach add to its distinctive features.

Playa de San Juan
Playa de San Juan
Another beach, but this one is located almost in the very center of the town that shares its name. Playa de San Juan is situated near the marina for small vessels, which, of course, can be a disadvantage. Another issue is the somewhat inconvenient entry into the sea, which is through small stones. However, the presence of a breakwater allows for swimming, and the prices for beach accessories and food at nearby cafes are much lower than on the beaches of the "Big Three" resorts.

Playa de Los Cristianos
The first resort of the "Big Three," Los Cristianos, has two artificial beaches with gray sand. Both beaches are partially closed from the waves by breakwaters, which allows for comfortable swimming.
