CONTEMPLATION

Tenerife is a mountainous island, which means there are many places to enjoy beautiful views. These places are marked on the map as "miradores" in Spanish. Most of the viewing platforms are located

on the northern coast or in the central part of the island, along the road to Teide.

de La Centinela

This stone mirador is located in the south of the island, on the border of the municipalities of Arona and San Miguel. The site offers a magnificent view from San Miguel to Roque del Conde. You can enjoy the volcanic landscapes and nature reserves of Montaña Roja and Malpaís de Rasca from this point. There are also dining options available here.

This observation deck is located on the TF-436 highway, between the village of Masca and Las Portelas. From this mirador, you can see how different the climate is on the southern and northern slopes of Tenerife. The site offers views of the Los Carrizales Gorge, the mountains, and the El Palmar Valley.

Mirador is very high up, on the road from La Esperanza to Teide. This stone observation deck offers a magnificent view of the Teide National Park and the northwest coast of the island. In clear weather, you can see the island of La Palma.

From this mirador, located in the northeast of the island, you can see the Anaga mountain range, the Boqueron rocks, and the town of La Punta del Hidalgo with its famous lighthouse. Another viewpoint with a magnificent view of the La Orotava valley is the Mirador de Humboldt. From here, you can also see the volcanoes El Fraile and Las Arenas, as well as Teide. The viewpoint is named after Alexander von Humboldt, a German geographer who expressed his admiration for the valley in his writing "Essay on the Island of Cuba." It is said that he viewed the valley from this very point.

Another mirador that deserves attention is located above Las Teresitas beach - the most beautiful beach in Tenerife. The view is impressive, although the arrangement of the observation deck leaves much to be desired. This mirador is also good because you can easily get to it on foot.

The observation deck is located at the exit of the tunnel along the TF-42 highway, in the direction of Icod de los Vinos. You will have a wonderful view of the Punta del Guindaste coast and the wide valley that stretches from Acentejo to Isla Baja. In the distance, you can see Puerto de la Cruz.

On this observation deck, you will see the ocean, the rocky coast and the fertile northern coast of Tenerife. In the protected area of Rambla de Castro you will see the manor house and the old water mill La Gordejuela. You can have a snack here.

This mirador is located on the highway heading towards La Esperanza. It offers a view of the southeastern part of the island. We can say that this observation deck was created by nature itself. It offers views of the Pedro Gil caldera with the Arafo and Las Arenas volcanoes. Below, you can see the Güímar Valley, and in the distance, across the ocean, the island of Gran Canaria.

As you travel up to Teide along the TF-24 highway, you'll come across an observation deck surrounded by pine trees. Make a stop and enjoy the superb scenery, including the island's capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the farmlands of El Rosario, and the steep Anaga Mountains. From the south side, you can see panoramic views of Malpais de Guimar and the coastal town of El Medano.

The observation deck is located at the very beginning of the Rural de Anaga Park in front of Monteverde and will delight you with a view of La Laguna. On good days, you can also see Teide. This observation deck is one of the most visited in Tenerife. It is located on the road from the city of La Laguna to Mount Las Mercedes. Its location will give you the opportunity to enjoy the central and northern parts of the island: from Anaga Rocks to Teide. You will see the gorges of Tahodio and Afur, the cities of Santa Cruz and La Laguna, the Güimar Valley, and the Pedro Gil mountain range.

This mirador is located on the road going from Icod el Alto to Los Realejos. This mirador is divided into two parts. One of them offers a view of the western part of the island with the Teide volcano, while the other offers a view of a bizarre volcanic formation in the shape of a rose. To see the rose-shaped formation, you need to cross the highway using the pedestrian crossing.

Here you can enjoy the scenery of three protected natural areas at once: Malpaís de Güímar, Paisaje Protegido de las Siete Lomas and Parque Natural de la Corona Forestal. The Güímar Valley, its agricultural plantations and greenhouses deserve special attention.

It is not difficult to get to this observation deck even for travelers without a car. It is located in the historical center of El Sauzal. You will enjoy a view of the rocky coast of Acentejo and the beach of Garañona. There is even a cafe with an outdoor terrace where you can admire the views over a cup of coffee.

The observation deck is located on the road to the laurel forests of the Parque Rural de Anaga. From here, you can enjoy a gorgeous view of La Vega Lagunera and the ancient capital of Tenerife, La Laguna. Teide is also visible from the observation deck. Next to the observation deck, there is a restaurant and a small market.
