AQUAPARKS AND SEE POOLS

If relaxing on the beach and swimming in the ocean seem rather boring to you,

you always have an alternative for more active water leisure – water parks.

There are also outdoor pools, as a cross between the ocean and a water park,

but they are interesting, first of all, to those who live in places with poorly equipped beaches.

SIAM PARK

Both Tenerife water parks are located in the south of the island and we will start with the most important of them - Siam Park. This is a fairly young water park (2008), which today is one of the three best (if not the best) water parks in Europe.

Its scope impresses even the most experienced tourists. The strength of Siam Park is not in the number of water activities (although there are more than enough of them), but in the quality: each attraction has its own unique face.

Siam Park has the same owners as Loro Parque, and the Asian theme is even stronger here. The Thai princess, for example, took part in the opening ceremony of the water park. For a lot of money, of course.

It makes no sense to list all the entertainment that awaits you in Siam Park. It can only be noted that the business card and the subject of special pride of the water park is the Tower of Power with a height of 22 meters. This, by the way, is about a ten-story house... Of course, there are slides and simpler, for the more cautious. But, most importantly, each of the attractions has its own unique style.

The water park also features a large beach and swimming pool. So if you just want to sunbathe and swim, there's no problem. And if you get tired of lying on the pool's shore and aren't particularly drawn to adrenaline rides, you can swim along the Mai Thai River, which is one kilometer long, and enjoy the views along the way.

As for whether it is worth taking small children with you, this question is quite complicated. The thing is that the main attractions are designed for children starting from school age and older. However, there is also a place for the little ones to have fun - a separate children's entertainment area. Someone can look after their beloved child while someone else rides on the rides, but only one person at a time.

If you are on the island in the summer, then you need to prepare for possible queues and it is best to come here on weekdays, when they (queues) will be a little smaller. Also pay attention to a special evening visit: from 20:00 to 24:00. It is warm on the island in the evening, and entertainment under the moon and stars will give you impressions no less vivid than in the rays of the sun.

On the Siam Park territory, there are several catering establishments where you can grab a snack. It is forbidden to bring your own food. The ticket price includes access to all attractions, except for small things such as lockers for personal items and towels. You can purchase tickets directly on the Siam Park website, but you may need to figure out which option is best for you.

From April the 1rst to October 29th:

10:00 - 18:00

From October 30th to March 31rst:

10:00 - 17:00

AQUALAND

Aqualand was once No. 1 in Tenerife and, despite all the shortcomings, did not have big problems with attendance. However, with the advent of Siam Park, everything has changed. Aqualand switched to a survival strategy, and its main target group was children. Therefore, if you have children, Aqualand is quite the best option. At least, children should like it here more than in Siam Park, which is designed primarily for an adult audience.

There is one more thing that attracts tourists here. It's a dolphin show. They say that it is not inferior in any way, and many believe that it even surpasses a similar show in Loro Park. You can even swim with dolphins. For a fee, of course. For these amazing animals, the most natural conditions are created here.

It's worth noting that if you can't bring your own food to Siam Park, Aqualand is a good alternative, especially since food options are not their strongest point. However, the freedom to choose compensates for this inconvenience. Just bring food with you.

In general, if you feel that your child needs a water park and a meeting with dolphins, pay attention to Aqualand. This may turn out to be a more profitable option both in terms of price and impressions. Tickets can be purchased on the Aqualand website.

Open: 10:00 – 17:00                                        www.aqualand.es/costa-adeje

SEE POOLS

There are resorts in Tenerife where swimming in the ocean and sunbathing on the beach is not the best option due to frequent wind and large waves. However, there is often an alternative in the form of open-air saltwater pools.

Let's talk about the most famous.

Tenerife-Lago-Martianez.webp

LAGO
MARTIANES

No. 1 on our list is Lago Martianez, a complex of saltwater pools in Puerto de La Cruz. Here you can not only sunbathe, but also swim. Lago Martianez is a great alternative to the beach, especially since it is located right on the ocean shore. If you take a spot on the edge of the complex, you will hear the sound of waves, and even sea spray will fall on you from time to time. In a word, you can almost get the full experience of relaxing on an ocean beach. The complex is very clean and tidy, with several restaurants and cafes, and even its own casino. Towels and sunbeds can be rented on site. The entrance ticket price is not high.

10:00 - 19:00 (Summer)

10:00 - 18:00 (Winter - Spring)

PARQUE MARITIMO
CESAR MANRIQUE

From Puerto de la Cruz we will move to the capital of the island, where there is also a complex of salt water pools - Parque Maritimo Cesar Manrique. On its territory there are playgrounds, a saltwater pool, a Jacuzzi and various sports facilities. The structure of the complex itself has unique features, as the author of the architectural concept is a well-known local architect Cesar Manrique. Here you will get not only physical, but also aesthetic pleasure. Admission is inexpensive. By the way, the Palmetum Botanical garden is not so far away, so a trip to the pool can be combined with a walk through its alleys and acquaintance with plants.

10:00 - 19:00 (Summer)

10:00 - 18:00 (Winter - Spring)

OASIS LOS CICANTES
(temporarily closed)

There is a well-equipped swimming pool complex on the west coast, in Los Gigantes. Oasis Los Gigantes, of course, is inferior to its northern counterparts, but with its main task – swimming in sea water in the open in bad weather, copes quite well. There is a swimming pool not only for adults, but also for children with a whole range of entertainment. In addition, Oasis Los Gigantes has a cafe and a bar. The hallmark of the pool Oasis Los Gigantes is the view of Acantilados de Los Gigantes - the most famous cliffs of Tenerife, which are one of the main attractions of the island. Unfortunately, the complex is now temporarily closed.

10:00 - 19:00 (Summer)

10:00 - 18:00 (Winter - Spring)

These are the three main outdoor swimming pool complexes in Tenerife, but not a complete list of them. In many coastal villages and towns of the island, nature has carefully created natural pools with its own hands, which are enjoyed by both locals and tourists from all over the world. Carefully explore Tenerife, find its outdoor pools, swim in them with pleasure, sunbathe and just relax.

SUBMARINES SAFARI TENERIFE

Tenerife-ocean-Submarina.webp

Do not expect any stunning discoveries or wonders, as the underwater world of Tenerife does not have a great variety of flora and fauna. However, you will see something. The fun is also provided by the organizers themselves with the help of various sketches near the portholes.

In general, if you are interested not only in the underwater world, but also in the fact of diving – welcome. Why not experience the real underwater world of the Atlantic for yourself? This tour lasts 60 minutes. Tickets can be purchased directly on the Submarines website.

Of course, diving on a submarine will not give you as much fun as visiting a water park or fishing, but if you are curious, it can be interesting. Is it safe? Quite. The submarines are made as simple and reliable as possible, and the diving depth is very small – a maximum of 30 meters.
